Shortly after the inauguration of the direct flight from Shenzhen to Mexico City on Saturday, Jesús Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, bid a farewell to his colleagues and friends in China and then embarked on a 16-hour flight journey back home.

He was flying with China Southern Airlines's first direct passenger flight between Shenzhen and Mexico City, which is the lengthiest nonstop regular commercial flight departing from China. This intercontinental flight spans 14,147 kilometers each way and costs a duration of approximately 16 hours. The flight also stands as the only direct passenger route from China to Latin America.
他乘坐中国南方航空深圳-墨西哥城航线的首班直航回国，这也是我国航程最长的国际客运航线。航线全长超过14,000公里，飞行时间约16小时。该航线是目前国内唯一一条直飞拉美地区的客运航线。

“The opening of direct flight has made travel between China and Latin America more efficient and convenient. It has significantly reduced travel time. Previously, traveling from Latin America to China often involved at least one or two transfers in countries and regions like Japan, South Korea, North America, and Europe, resulting in journey times of up to 25-30 hours,” Ambassador Seade said in an interview with Shenzhen Daily before his departure.
“直航的开通使中拉之间的旅行更加高效便捷。它大大缩短了旅行时间。以前，从拉丁美洲到中国旅行，往往需要在日本、韩国、北美、欧洲等国家和地区至少中转一到两次，行程时间长达25-30个小时，”施雅德大使在接受《深圳日报》采访时说。
Seade saw the opening of the direct flight a landmark achievement in the bilateral relations between China and Mexico. “This direct flight is not just a route in the sky; it is a corridor for prosperity, an avenue for business collaboration and a bridge for cultural exchanges. It marks the beginning of an exciting journey of discovery, understanding and shared growth,” said Seade.
施雅德认为，直航的开通在中墨双边关系中具有里程碑意义。“它不仅是一条空中航线，更是一条繁荣的走廊、一条商业合作的通道和一座文化交流的桥梁。它标志着探索、理解和共同发展的激动人心的旅程的开始，”施雅德说。

Operated under the flight code CZ8031/2, the airline deploys the Airbus A350-900 aircraft for the route, featuring 28 business class seats configured in a 1-2-1 layout and 307 economy class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
该航线航班号为CZ8031/2，采用空客A350-900宽体机执飞，设有28个1-2-1布局的商务舱座位和307个3-3-3布局的经济舱座位。

Outbound flights CZ8031 will depart from Shenzhen at 9 p.m. local time every Tuesday and Saturday, and arrive in Mexico City at 11 p.m. local time. Inbound flights CZ8032 will depart from Mexico City at 1 a.m. local time every Wednesday and Sunday, and arrive in Shenzhen at 12:20 p.m., following a layover at Tijuana, a border city in northwest Mexico.

In his speech at the launching ceremony, Seade called Shenzhen a great and amazing city. He had served as the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen’s (CUHK) Associate Vice President for Global Affairs and a management and economics professor for two years.
施雅德在直航仪式上致辞说，深圳是一座令人惊叹的城市。施雅德曾有两年在香港中文大学（深圳）任职全球事务副校长和管理与经济学教授。
“Shenzhen has the advantage of advanced manufacturing, science, and innovation industries, which complement Mexico's well-developed manufacturing sectors in automobiles, home appliances, electronics, machinery and construction materials,” Seade said.
“深圳拥有先进的制造业、科学和创新产业优势，与墨西哥发达的汽车、家电、电子、机械和建筑材料制造业相辅相成，”施雅德说。
He believes that the opening of the route will usher in new opportunities for industrial cooperation, economic and trade exchanges, and cultural communications between Shenzhen and Mexico City.
他相信，这条航线的开通将为深圳与墨西哥城之间的产业合作、经贸交流和文化沟通带来新的机遇。

Since establishing a friendly exchange relationship in 2015, Shenzhen and Mexico City have witnessed a significant enhancement in economic and trade cooperation. Companies like Huawei and BYD from Shenzhen have made investments and expanded their presence in Mexico, and integrated into the local supply chain.
自 2015 年正式缔结为友好交流城市以来，深圳与墨西哥城不断加强经贸合作。华为、比亚迪等深圳企业纷纷在墨西哥投资兴业、拓展业务，并融入当地供应链。
“Chinese companies had participated in the construction of the Mayan Train Project, a major infrastructure project in Mexico. China's 5G and cloud technology services are popular in the Mexican consumer market,”the ambassador said.
“中国企业参与了墨西哥重大基础设施项目玛雅铁路的建设。中国的 5G 和云技术服务在墨西哥很受欢迎，”大使说。
As an ambassador, Seade has observed the immense interest that Mexico ignites among Chinese companies, witnessing their growing enthusiasm for investing in the country. Seade also hopes the new route will entice more visitors from Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean region to visit Shenzhen, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and discover the real China.
施雅德感受到了中国企业对墨西哥市场的巨大兴趣，并见证了中国企业对墨投资日益高涨的热情。他还希望新航线能为深圳和粤港澳大湾区带来更多来自墨西哥、拉丁美洲和加勒比地区的游客，引领他们发现真正的中国。

China Southern Airlines said it has signed aviation cooperation agreements with Mexican carriers like Aeromexico. Leveraging connecting flights, travelers can access not just major Mexican cities but also South American destinations such as Sao Paulo in Brazil, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Lima in Peru through extended services, which also saves time and travel distance for those bound for Antarctica. In addition, the route enhances convenience for Latin American travelers journeying between China and other Asian countries and cities like Singapore, Bangkok in Thailand and Seoul in South Korea.
